How hard it would be to implement something like...

Postby dolny » Tue Feb 28, 2006 4:15 pm

...something similar to CTF. Two teams trying to get as much gold from the second team as possible, while preventing the second team from doing the same ;) It would be most exciting on a modified train map. There is a limit of money or time.

How hard would it be to code it?

Could probably be done in a couple of days work, but it's not worth the effort for me personally. Not at the moment, anyway. I'm sorry, but I don't play wq3 to play team games, it's FFA all the way.

I don't mean to be negative, it's just the way it is. Someone else might want to do it, though. But any more coding work on my part would probably be to fix bugs, not add new stuff. Because for me, the game is almost perfect the way it is. ;)

Not to mention that the maps would have to be reworked to allow for that type of gameplay and we just don't have the time or man power for that..

By now it should be common knowledge that wq3 will be opensourced when we release the standalone version. Hopefully, more coders will come along in the future. It's easy to have a good idea but implementing it can sometimes be difficult or very time consuming. It can also introduce new bugs or even cause problems in areas that we can't foresee.

Thanks for the replies.

Personally, I only play WQ3 for teamgames, especially BR ;)

A variations could probably be implemented rather easily: When you die in BR, you don't spectate but respawn. That way, you _have_ to rob the bank to win - or defend it until time is over. Just an idea.

A penalty of waiting at least 10 seconds (or wait for a team respawn every 30 seconds) would be good after death if it's not hard to code (just hypothetically).
