Making game movies

Postby ReD NeCKersoN » Tue Jun 19, 2007 5:17 am

I've been wanting to follow in Futsin's footsteps for the longest time. Though I doubt I have the patience to ever be as good at it as he is, I at least made an attempt. Plus, I needed to experiment anyway for the mapping tutorials I have planned. Here's a very simple video I made from my "other" favorite game, VIETCONG.

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/46TgrHa4obw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/46TgrHa4obw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Anyhow, the content of the vid isn't as important as the knowledge I'm gaining with the tools. Thanks Chico & Ten Beers.

I would like to check some map tutorials. Probably very time consuming to make some. Would those be radiant tutorials? I would like to learn to use that maybe someday..

Hi Ranger. :D I have a written tutorial HERE that will replace the outdated one on the main website as soon as I finish my video tutorial. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you feel the need to.

I like it! Looks like you've got the basics down. It will be fun to see where you go with this.

Yeah, RIGHT! I doubt I'll ever get as involved in this stuff as Futsin, or be half as good at it, but what little I've learned has been fun so far.

Meh. I'm terrible at what I do. You, getting to know the HOW rather than the WHY so far, have a better chance that I.

Fishing for compliments? Cause you know we have plenty. TFG ROOLZ. :P

No point in learning how, if not for why. But for the time being, I only really need to know how.

I suppose the how and the way is a circular process. There's a why, thus a how must be found. Or a how is found, thus a search for a why. :)

And nah, I'm just hating on myself in public again. :|

So, hey, you guys want a Quake 3 Movie Making Tutorial?

At least the good news is having others to bounce ideas off of better, because they'll have actual experience and know what kind of difficulties I'm running into (you would not believe the BS we'd have go wrong on TFG - hilarious in retrospect, though), so we'll have faster and easier problem solving.

Of course that depends on how a "WQ3 Movie Making Community" develops. =P

Anyway, I'll go ahead and work out the tutorial when I can. Soon as I can. Some of the information is dead simple to write out, thank God.
