Definitely sounds like a driver problem..
Did you uninstall your old drivers before installing the new ones?
Did you use Driver Cleaner to completely remove old drivers?

Download Newest Nvidia Drivers
Download Driver Cleaner
Uninstall drivers through add/remove programs *do not restart after uninstall.*
Run Driver Cleaner following thier instructions.. then Re-boot
Once back in windows, if hardware wizard pops up, cancel it..
Install new drivers and re-boot..

That should do the trick..
