Light

Postby ChainLightnin' » Mon Mar 05, 2007 7:54 pm

For what it's worth, I really like the shading, but I use the vertex light, with the brightness way up on a 22 inch cad monitor, just so I can see you guys in most of the games. I was wondering if it was old age again! 8O

Yeah, whatever, screw all this lighting stuff. I'll just set minlight to 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 or something ...

@ChainLightin: What do you mean with your last post? Did you notice anything strange concerning the bots?

Cheers

I was just giving you some feedback! 8O Perhaps I should be more specific. Bumping up the minlight 1 or 2 notches couldn't hurt could it? I wouldn't go beyond that. But if altering the lighting bothers you, then don't. You actually came pretty darn close to satisfying me in the first place! :D

Jane & the Mexican

Tag!
No, I was just being goofy. When they come out of the same room together, as is often the case in br mode, I just thought it was funny. But then you can deal with both of them at the same time, too! :)

And I am thankful for any piece I can get ;) ...

Which minlight values do you usually use? IIRC I have set it to 20 in Newtown and 15 in Dawnfort.

I just start with 10 & keep adding untill I like it. For me, NewTown is fine & I wouldn't change the lighting there. But like I said, maybe just add 1 or 2 for DawnFort? It only needs a little increase imo.

EDIT: Btw, several of us in America are playing your maps nightly & having a lot of fun. :D I have a few screenies of something else we found that I'll post here tonight.

NewTown:
The jail needs some player clip to prevent players passing through the bars. (Thanks for posing Chain Lightnin', Chico & Dadamungo)

When the doors open, the frames don't open with them. Looks strange.

Last call for change requests!

Check the first post to see what I have done so far. I want to reduce the "recompile frequency" as much as possible. Thus, I don't provide updated maps ATM. So if you guys found something in the meanwhile that I should change in these maps, let me know soon.

Cheers

Hi Breli, sorry for coming up so late, but maybe you're interested in some feedback for your maps. First of all: Both your maps rock and we often have some "Teezeit in Neustadt" (Teatime at Newstown - an insider...). Dawnfort looks good to us, no complaints so far. The lights already have been mentioned.

So, let me start with the following:
Image
Klick for larger version
Just a small thing: The wheel is cut off an repeats on the other side.

Next:

You see the ammo belt?

Next:
Image
Klick for larger version
The money is not on top of the bars, but more or less inside them. Don't know if that's a problem. Not for me anyway.

Next:

I got stuck in this place. It is outside the tunnel, having the house being built to your right-hand side and the "balcony" and pinwheel to the left.

Next:
[Deleted because already mentioned]

More to come soon, if you like to. But as I said: GREAT MAPS! :P :P :P

Thanks for you outstanding work!

Till then,

Clintstone

Well, here are some updates and recommendations. But first of all: Except the more relevant bugs already stated above, these are just minor ones, eyecandy if you like.

Image
Glitches in the wall, see larger version and you'll see...

Image
The latter is covered by rock... see larger version

Image
You can stand inside the wheel... Maybe you can be blocked and forced to walk around it? larger version

Image
Just an idea: There is a hole at the end of the "balcony". If you had the chance to get up where I set a mark, it might be possible to use this hole against someone hiding in there by throwing dynamite... larger version

Image
Another recommendation: The way around the whole place can hardly be used with people in the game knowing how to aim... For sure you'll never reach the other side alive. Maybe you could add some cover? Just an idea, not really necessary though. larger version

Image
The tarpaulin does not show marks of hits. Maybe that's not possible but it might look nice. larger version

Image
The grass grows through the piece of wood... larger version

Image
Two things: First, the lorry seems to float in the air, second the grass seems to repeat itself... Have a better view with the larger version

Image
This one seems to be standing inside the tracks. However - I think it has been mentioned before. larger version

Image Image
I'm standing inside this cactus. Ouch!
larger version 1
larger version 1

Image
Last one: The arms of the cactus seems to be not accuratly be attached to the root. larger version

That's it for now, again and again: Thanks for the good work!

ClintStone.changeUsername("EagleEye")
I'll take it as compliment :) But again: This can only change the status of the map from "very good" to "perfect". You're making the institute very happy. By the way - we mourn the loss of Dr. Don Juan... The gameplay lost a lot of, well, style since he left. However - I'm really looking forward to stepping out of our sandbox, playing against you one time and stand my ground on one of the public servers 8) ... So little time...

Thx, Armin ... glad to be of service ;)! However, you are buring MY taxes as well so I better stop distracting you

Why all the waiting? I am sure that you'll do well on the public servers ;)
