Hi folks,

this is the Baller Bude news, announcement and changelog topic. From now on, I'll update this first post, whenever I change something. If you have feedback or comments, please use the Baller Bude Feedback, Discussion, Question & Answer Thread, but not this topic! Thanks.

Best regards,

TheDoctor

News (recent news first):

Changelog (recent changes last):

• April 6th, 2017: Switched sv_dlURL (i.e. the address where additional packages for auto-download are being provided) to http://download.smokin-guns.org/mirror.9k.lv/smokinguns. Thanks /dev/random for previous service and thanks Tequila for present service.
• December 27th, 2014: BB minor update! A revised zvm.pk3 features an improved main menu, high-res levelshots, an improved font (loading menu), improved flicker-free horse textures (dm_dry), and a christmas tree (also dm_dry).
• December 25th, 2014: BB minor update! A revised zvm.pk3 features an improved main menu, high-res levelshots, an improved font (loading menu), improved flicker-free horse textures (dm_dry), and a christmas tree (also dm_dry). Seems, this update is too much for the standard memory allocation of SG (error message Z_Malloc: failed on allocation of 16687144 bytes from the main zone). Setting com_zoneMegs 128 helped me to overlook this problem. Reverting to previous version for now.
• December 22th, 2014: MsH did update his map dm_deadwood again (v1.4). Check out the inside of the church or the piano in the saloon.
• March 29th, 2014: Two older maps of MachoBastard have been recovered by ReD NeCKersoN: dm_eltriunfo (Fort: El Triunfo) and dm_barriles (Rancho: Los Barriles), both made in 2009. Although not part of the map cycle, they are callable via \callvote map dm_eltriunfo and \callvote map dm_barriles.
• December 24th, 2013: MachoBastard released his map dm_xtown (Christmas Town). From this day on, it is available on Baller Bude.
• December 09th, 2013: MachoBastard released his map dm_gstallion (Gray Stallion Manor). From this day on, it is available on Baller Bude.
• November 23rd, 2013: BB server went down in the evening. Reason is unknown. @spi was been contacted. Server went up on the following morning at around 11:00 o'clock CET.
• November 23rd, 2013: MachoBastard released his map dm_wsand (WhiteSands Hideout). From this day on, it is available on Baller Bude.
• November 11th, 2013: MachoBastard released his map dm_5gent (5 Gents Hacienda). From this day on, it is available on Baller Bude.
• November 9th, 2013: Remember, remember, the 9th of November! Baller Bude did turn four years old. A big thank you to all the players who connected to honor us.
• November 3rd, 2013: MachoBastard released his map Mulege Prison aka dm_mulpris. It is now available on Baller Bude.
• October 31st, 2013: Téquila offered two additional (sub)domain names for Baller Bude: bb.smokin-guns.org and ballerbude.smokin-guns.org. From now on, the former shall be main address of the stats page. Thank you very much, Téquila. In a cooperative effort, we were also able to substitute all forum links pointing to the old address bb.game-host.org, thus making them work once again.
• October 25th, 2013: Added map br_clayborn to the map cycle, on request of Last/L4ci.
• September, 2013: Our old friend and BB legend Biondo spared no effort to register two new free (sub)domain names for Baller Bude: ballerbude.no-ip.org and ballerbude.servegame.com. A honest thank you to Biondo.
• September, 2013: the registration of bb.game-host.org has expired. Since DynDNS free services did become utterly useless, the domain bb.game-host.org won't come back. The webpage of Baller Bude remains available at http://212.65.13.87/.
• June 7th, 2013: Revised dm_ttstation. As stated here, MachoBastard allowed me to revise his Tecate Train Station map. Play the result on BB and provide feedback.
• February 7, 2013: Baller Bude and other SG servers are experiencing some technical problems. Some players are/were not able to connect to the server and got the error message "no or bad challenge for your address". More information on this problem is provided in this thread.
• November 9, 2012: Baller Bude turned 3. As a gift, a major update was published on 9th of November requiring players to allow download(s), either enable Auto Download from the menu Game Options or open the console (keyboard shortcut Shift+Esc) and type \seta cl_allowdownload 1. You may also download the file zvm.pk3 [916874 Bytes] manually, overwriting the previous file with the same name.
• August, 2012: added support for colored server and player names as well as motds for the client loading screen
• August, 2012: added support for colored big text (centerprint/cp)
• August, 2012: fixed the list of spectators below the scores. From now on, the names of one spectator are no longer influenced by the last color code of the previous spectator.
• August, 2012: moved the SV_DropClient call of SV_VerifyPaks_f to SV_UserMove to ensure, the drop message reaches the client. This will lead to reliable and more helpful error message, when \cl_allowdownload 1 is required.
• August, 2012: added a simple speed-o-meter controlled by \cg_drawspeed 1.
• August, 2012: added a filter for kill messages controlled by \cg_killmsg. IMHO, kill messages shouldn't spam the chat. Set \seta cg_killmsg 1 to re-enable the old behaviour.
• August, 2012: dynamite comes now in package of two. Price remains unchanged ;-)
• August, 2012: hard-wired nextmap when humanplayers=0, even when timelimit=0
• August 30, 2012: Winchester $25 -> $20, Colt Lightning $30 -> $27
• August 31, 2012: say/chat text length increased
• September 1, 2012: BB cgame updated. From now on, Baller Bude requires to allow downloads before connecting. The development of BB now extends on the so-called cgame virtual machine, a major client-side component of Smokin'Guns. This allows bug fixes as well as new features (weapons, entities) in the future. To allow download, either enable Auto Download from the menu Game Options or open the console (keyboard shortcut Shift+Esc) and type \seta cl_allowdownload 1.
• September 2, 2012: fixed a message concerning cl_allowdownload, previously misspelled
• September 13, 2012: Added two horses and a flagpole to dm_dry
• September 14, 2012: Added mins and maxs as entity parameters to md3 models at least a rectangular bounding box. Also changed G_Spawn in g_utils.c such that it does no longer halts the server but at most ends the current map. Also thrown knives stick around at most 20 seconds instead of 30 seconds to further reduce the probability of the server running our of entities.
• September 14, 2012: dm_tijuana is now a regular map on Baller Bude (in the map cycle, \callvote-able).
• September 16, 2012: fixed the 'dead end' spawn point on dm_tijuana where players previously got stuck. If you get stuck at spawn, open console and type \coords, and post the coordinates together with the map name in this thread. Same goes for suggestions where to remove and where to place spawn points.
• September 22, 2012: re-activated the customized spawn points of dm_alamo_tiny on dm_alamo_2.
• September 30, 2012: dm_ttstation (Tecate train station) is now a regular map on Baller Bude (in the map cycle, \callvote-able).
• October 14, 2012: dm_pueblomuerto is now a regular map on Baller Bude (in the map cycle, \callvote-able). Additionally, pickup_money has been reshuffled and balanced.
• October 14, 2012: dm_harbor is now a regular map on Baller Bude (in the map cycle, \callvote-able). If you see dm_harbor announced in-game, don't forget to set \cl_allowdownload 1 in case you haven't it already.
• November 9, 2012: BB cgame updated. Improvements:
• new loading screen
• revised levelshots for all known maps
• new dm_dry skybox
• destructable crates
• introduced cvar \cg_hitmsgcolor to set the color of hit messages, as requested in this thread.
• fixed wrong demo-names bug on non-Windows system (upper vs. lower case)
• bots shouldn't kill teamkill (was already fixed in SVN)
• item_money should be a placeable entity (already implemented in BB)
• a destructible safe should be implemented as a placeable entity (func_breakable is place-able)
• a destructible safe should make a metal sound
• placed safes, trigger_escape and br spawn points in dm_dry
• in BR, bots shouldn't use dynamite to attack people
• bots should use dynamite to blow up breakables requiring dynamite; if they have no dynamite, they should go for some other goal
• bots should go for the money, destroying safes
• bots should use alternative ways to go to the money bags
• fixed robbing bots reaching the last ai node before the escape getting stuck
• implemented placeable trigger_escape. Fixed/set escape pointer
• entities should be treated as solids: when players in front of entities look down, they should be moved back a bit
• additional specials are listed (rifles, shotguns, "gatling", "climbing", "fastrunning", "lowgravity"). Some specials can be combined by calling them after each other, e.g. fastrunning and shotguns.
• re-implement BotCheckBuy (don't stoically buy the most expensive weapon)
• fixed an aim regression / an original hack in BG_ModifyEyeAngles
• bots should chase players for some time
Improved, but some issues may remain:
• bots should recognize breakables as blockers (similar to doors)
• bots shouldn't get self-killed by dynamite
• bots should reliably break breakables
• robbing bots should accompany the item_money and immediately pick it up
• in any case, bots need to change weapon from dynamite
• fix memory errors: ^1Fatal: AAS_EntityInfo: entnum 1065353216 out of range
• blocked bots should jump-crouch
• blocking entities should be temporarily added as avoid spots
• November 9, 2012: added the following maps: dm_aguacaliente, br_clayborn, dm_darkfort, dm_deadwood, dm_ghosttown, br_santaclare
• November 11, 2012: enhanced bot support for dm_dry, dm_ghosttown and dm_tillian. From now on, bots may climb ladders (on maps for which the .aas file has been recompiled). This fixes or at least reduces the problem of bots not moving when target players are on brushed without "areanum".
• November 12, 2012: reset g_startingMoney to 20 (was accidentally 27)
• November 12, 2012: updated entity avoidSpot calculation
• November 19, 2012: Published Robbery Bude; new qagame.qvm contains some BR optimizations, e.g. Bots chasing the pickup_money. The VM is not yet used for DM; quality tests pending.
• November 27, 2012: Possibly solved null pointer issue.
• December 5, 2012: Possibly solved null pointer issue. Bots are less jumpy. Automatic filtering of botclipped spawnpoints (fixes br_farm and possibly others).
