Textures missing or something

Postby Hideous » Fri Jan 09, 2009 9:31 pm

So I ran through those tutorials on setting up GTKradiant for SG, but after compiling the maps, most of the textures don't show up in the game (there's a white on grey grid instead), and those that are supposed to be non-solid are solid and such. Any idea what I did wrong?

I hope you didn't follow those outdated tutorials too closely.

So, certain textures show up in Radiant but not in the game? Assuming your only using textures that come with the game, the first thing that comes to mind is make sure you extracted shaderlist.txt to the smokinguns/scripts folder.
Open it with a text editor & make sure it has the following lines in it:
common
joekari
sg

I'll be setting up a new mapping install on my pc this weekend in order to make an "up to date" tutorial.

Hey, I fixed it! Alright, get ready for some really crappy maps! I've done maps with both Call of Duty and Quake 3 before, so I know how to, I'm just too lazy to do it properly :D

I started working on a small map, actually, probably very fit for either a very small amount of players (think two or three friends on a LAN party), or a duel. Not too ambitious, so it should get done eventually.

Be carefull with Radiant, it install some shader that are not compatible with SG. You should delete radiant's common.shader (located somewhere in baseq3) or your ladder will not work.
