Trouble with Radiant 1.4

Postby eräjorma » Sat Apr 11, 2009 4:16 pm

Hi,

I discovered SG a few weeks ago and want to start creating maps. I went through the tutorials about setting up Radiant and the other stuff, and I have been able to compile the test levels, and also created some rough sketchy experiments.

The thing is, in Radiant I get a very strange graphics bug. I can't see surfaces in any other texture view mode except wireframe. Looks like this:

any ideas what causes this? :x

EDIT: sorry, forgot to post info on my setup, I use Win XP 64 on an Asus m2a vm (integrated radeon x1250)

Hi & welcome to the forum.
Go to the menu in Radiant: view/filter & see if anything has a check mark next to it. Remove all check marks & see if that solves the problem. (Btw, hiding things with this menu can come in handy at times.) I'm not sure this is your problem but let's at least rule this out.
I just looked around in Radiant & didn't find an option for a wireframe mode. Maybe it's a graphics driver issue. Hopefully some of the other mappers may know more.

thank you for the reply Red,

no filters applied. In my install of Radiant (1.4.0), there is a distinct wireframe mode. It can be found in the menu Textures>Render Quality, or by clicking the "Texture view mode"- button.

I hope it's not a driver issue. I use the ATI Catalyst Driver

Here's what the catalyst control panel says:

Treiber-Paketversion 8.332-070108a1-042008C-Asus

2D-Treiberversion 6.14.10.6660
2D-Treiberpfad System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{745C2E6F-B805-4CCF-848F-414018F3B89D}/0000
Direct3D-Version 6.14.10.0464
OpenGL-Version 6.14.10.6288
Catalyst® Control Center-Version 1.2.2564.38853

I just noticed my first post is a bit confusing. The picture in my first post was captured in "bilinear mipmap" mode. It actually looks the same in ALL other modes, except wireframe.

so, in wireframe it looks like this:

It looks similar to the graphical error that I get with my Vista Intel4 integrated system. I wasn't able to get a solution despite my posts here and here. I have not tried Zero Radiant, so maybe that fixes the problem. Breli has a nice tutorial here on the forums for installing Zero Radiant.
