What do you use?

Just curious to whether people use a joystick or gamepad, or as with me keyboard and mouse to play SG? Anyone have a particular preference?

I'm fairly crap at the game and I'm just thinking perhaps changing controller might help me improve.

Keyboard and mouse obviously :)

Aim is not so important in this game (cfr Spey), it's more about positioning and timing.

If you have problems aiming, I suggest you to use a decent mouse with smooth mousefeet/pad and use a low sensitivity with no acceleration.

The last time I was using joystick it was something like Boulderdash or River Raid at Atari65XE 8) I think it'd be useless with SG just like gamepad.

Seems it's just me then. :? I can't seem to hit a barn door half the time unless it's against other novices. :P

I used to use a joystick for 1st and 3rd person games like Max Payne, The Thing, etc. in the early 2000's and found it better but since then I haven't, as that particular joystick's adaptor hasn't fit my last 2 PCs. Never got a new JS as in recent years I play more strategy, adventure, and RP type games where a joystick isn't needed or warranted.

Might check out my mouse specs and look at my in game postioning as advised. Thanks.

Check your specs. Mouse movement, screen resolution, are 2 that affect how you perform. But by far you must play and practice a lot.

Reduce mouse sensitivity and if you use mouse acceleration be sure to tweak it carefully.
Have a look at your ping. I normally have ping around 100 in European servers and more than 200 in American servers. A ping of 100 is good enough for me, though I know of players that don't play with a ping over 50. With a high ping a good aim is more a matter of luck, so you'll probably need to adopt appropriate strategies and high-spread weapons.

Thanks everyone.

With reduce my mouse sensitivity. Not sure if I have mouse acceleration set or not; will check. May alter my screen resolution and see if that makes a difference too.

My ping is usually between 100 and 200, I'd say 150 is the average.

Definetely keyboard and mouse, and a touchpad at that, because I can't really use a standard computer mouse anymore, I have a laptop now...
