Mouse button not binding

Postby Allied » Tue Feb 24, 2009 10:09 pm

Howdy folks,

Naturally I'd like to begin by saying that you've done a great job on this game.

I'm unable to bind my mouse button 5 to anything in Smokin. I want it for reload. Button 4 works, and if I use my mouse control panel to assign button 5 to Windows Button 4, that will work. However with that then I don't get the use of button 4, assigning it to Windows Button 5 does not work. It seems like the game doesn't support a five button mouse, is this so?

Thanks in advance,
Allied

I'm having the same problem with a Logitech MX1100 in WinXP.
Admittedly, I haven't investigated it much yet.

Yup, the q3 engine only supports 4 buttons. I've bound buttons 5-8 on my MX510 to home, end, page up, page down. That way I can use them in SG, and that setup works nicely for web browsing too. 8)

I tried using the console to bind it as well, and it appears to bind successfully but just doesn't work. If I try to bind MOUSE6 to something it says there MOUSE6 is not a valid key, so at least it seems to know that there is 5 buttons present.

My mouse is a Microsoft Habu.
