Try launching ./smokinguns.x86 from a terminal and see wheter it spits out any error messages. You're most likely missing some librarys.

Without any logs or error messages it is close to impossible to pinpoint your problem.

I doubt you need OpenGL libraries. The error is usually related to 3D acceleration, which is offered by the proprietary Nvidia/Ati graphics driver.

How did you solve the problem? I think I've got the same. When I try to execute smokinguns.x86 I get
./smokinguns.x86: error while loading shared libraries: libXxf86dga.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And when I try to install the library, it says I've already got the newest one installed. Any ideas? Haven't played this game for a while, would love to have it again..

The mentioned library is usually included in the libxxf86dga1 package.
Do you use a 64bit system?

You could also try the v1.1 beta of Smokin' Guns.

yes, I'm using a 64-bit system. And where could I find the v1.1? I should have mentioned that I had this game installed some time ago, and everything was perfect. On the other hand, there were some changes in my system, like update of ubuntu version

p.s. I tried to install the libxxf86dga1 package - only some headers were removed and nothing installed. Meanwhile I'm playing SG via .exe on whine.. not so bad:)
