Graphics problem on windows 7 64bit

Postby labruja » Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:25 am

Hi all, I got a problem with sg :( Before, I was having Windows 7 32bit and everything was just fine, but lately i installed 64bit version - I don't know if it is source of the problem but before everything was fine. Anyway, now when I start smokin' guns (have to run it with administrator privileges, btw), the intro plays normally, but then the screen flickers (I don't quite know how to explain this in english, there are kinda... horizontal bars moving from the bottom of the screen.. They are there all the time (after intro), and I have no idea what's the problem. I have drivers installed and everything, I will be glad if You helped me :)

What version of Smokin' Guns are you using (1.0 or 1.1)? Also, make sure you updated your video drivers after you re-installed windows. If you are using SG1.0 and your video drivers are up to date, try getting SG1.1. You can get the information here: viewtopic.php?t=2079

and get you newest windows binaries here: http://smokinguns.sparcdr.org/downloads ... s/current/

i would try sse2. if it doesn't work try another one. maybe sparcdr can explain more if/when he sees this. What CPU do you have? What video card do you have?

sse2 doesn't solve the problem either. Computer is hp Pavilion dv5 1160, which is:
Intel Core2 Duo P7350 (@ 2GHz 2GHz)
and
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT

If you're running the latest drivers for your video card, then you may have to try older drivers for it. Sad, but true. Certainly sounds like a graphics card issue.

Now that was lame, sorry guys :( Turned out I've downloaded drivers from HP site, and they were definitely not up to date. After installing nevest drivers everything's fine, THOUGH the sound is a little.. well, it's not good, I'll see what I can do with it and post a new thread if necesary.

Yes, the sound in the beta is a little weird. Here is a thread with more information:
