Demos

Postby MAKOTO » Fri Jan 07, 2011 12:40 am

I can't record demos with "\record cheater" since i updated to SG 1.1b4. The demos dont appear in demo folder. I just can do this in SG 1.0.

Can you guys help me?

Thanks!

I just recorded one. I typed /record "demoname"

Forward slash not backslash. In quotations I think, just the name of the demo.

To end type /stoprecord

It went straight to the demo folder you can access when you run SG. I opened it and ran it. However I do not know yet how to transfer it to an email but I intend to learn.

1.1b4 does not store the demos/screenshots/configs in the smokinguns folder. They are now stored in
"%appdata%/Smokin' Guns/smokinguns"
or at least in Windows.

I am sorry I meant that it was installed in the demo files so that you can run it when you open SG, which I did. I only learned where the demo files are when I read Pardner's post.

I am still trying to put the demo file, which I found, into an a website. Perhaps someone can give me a clue. I did convert the file to a zip file, which I can email, but I would prefer to post it.

To avoid typing into the console when I want to record, I do this:

Create a new txt file & name it demo_bind.cfg
With a text editor, paste the follwing into it & save.
Code: Select all
set recdem "echo ^1[RECORDING DEMO];g_synchronousClients 1;record;g_synchronousClients 0; set demtoggle vstr stopdem "
set stopdem "stoprecord; set demtoggle vstr recdem;echo ^1[DEMO STOPPED ] "
set demtoggle "vstr recdem"
bind x "vstr demtoggle"

Create another txt file & name it autoexec.cfg
Paste the follwing into it:
Code: Select all
exec demo_bind.cfg

Put both cfg files into your SG game directory.
For example: C:\Program Files\Smokin' Guns\smokinguns

Now whenever you press X (or whatever key you assign in place of X) while in game, a demo will start recording. Press the key again to stop.

I made a spelling error. Sorry! (I fixed the post.)
Save the first file as demo_bind.cfg. (Not demobind.cfg)
