how to transform a demo to video with sound?

Postby sunrise » Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:48 pm

I tried the /video command.
As you can see below a errormessage advises me to use /s_useOpenAL 0 if i want to record the sound too. So changed it. I tried the command before and after /video, but without any effect.
So im wondering now if there are some additional settings to use in order to record sound.

I tried lots of things to reach what you want :)
I think the only solution is to get fraps. Cost anything but if you have it you can record to your pc as .avi and to transform that should be possible ;-)
If you want to get this solution write a PM to me :)
You can film a demo also

I can't record audio with fraps neither, but i know other programmms to do that.
My concern was to convert a demo's video and audio to avi with a command not with external programms.

You can record audio with fraps. It's just a setting.
As far as I know there is no way to transform it to any other filebase.
Try to google but there is totally nothing to do a demo file is just written of moves you do.. if you don't have a map you can't watch a demo .. so there can't be a possibility in my opinion.. but good luck cowboy 8O

From the top of my head you'd do the following;
Code: Select all
/seta s_useOpenAL 0
/demo demoname
/video

/stopvideo

It might be neccessary to use seta instead of set to override your default config. If you set s_useOpenAL in your autoexec.cfg, you might need to alter this as well.

P.S.: Fraps is not available for Unix. There are however alternatives like glc.

Now it works thanks, i think the "seta" was my fault.
With programms like fraps i always had much trouble to record higher framerates, so this method is perfect for me.
