If your computer can barely handle the game even at lowest settings, there's not much you can do.

If you have a second computer on your network, you can start a dedicated/listen server there and connect to it with your first computer. This way, the bot logic runs on the second computer while the first one just has to do the local graphics part.

Try closing background programs such as your browser, maybe stop your anti-virus temporarily etc. The only real fix is to get better hardware.

I haven't many tips for this after reading /dev/random's reply.
Also, just make sure you installed the latest drivers on your machine. I have seen too many people not installing their GPU driver and complaining of some slow framerate.

If you play alone with no bots, what FPS do you get then?

Also, what CPU and GPU do you have?

Did you try setting the number of particles in the settings to few, or none?

Not enough memory maybe? Try to set this in your config:
Code: Select all
seta com_hunkMegs "512"
seta com_soundMegs "64"
seta com_zoneMegs "128"

GPU = NVidia GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR3
CPU = Intel Core i5 Quad
setting particles to minimal/none didn't help
Barto thanks I did it but I can't set soundmegs, it says something like unknown command
I've just noticed that when I look at the Alamo 2's market from the wall my ping increases to like 50, when I turn around and look to the desert it goes back to 17
thanks for further help I love this game

You are sure that you have installed drivers from Nvidia, not from Microsoft? Microsofts drivers don't have proper OpenGL support.

One thing you could try if you haven't already is deleting the config files to make sure that the game is running with default settings. Might want to back up the old files first.

To my surprise, had a new driver on NVidia's website, so I downloaded it, didn't helped. And I've reset the game's settings and options to default but it didn't help either.

I don't have much more ideas...

You may want to try
Code: Select all
r_smp 1
com_maxFPS 125
rate 25000
snaps 20
cl_maxpackets 62
cl_packetup 0

Be sure your machine isn't covered under too much dust and that no hardware is disconnected/broken (CPU/GPU/RAM) or just overused by other softwares.

You may also want to check with some other game like quake 3 or urban terror if you have the same problem. If so, feel free to ask the devs there too.

Janko, do you mean Ping (network data packet travel time) or FPS (amounts of pictures, your graphics card can produce within a second)?

You can show the amount of frames via the command \seta cg_drawFPS 1, while your ping is shown in the highscores window (while pressing Tab).

Don't confuse the two.
