Which license, redistribution allowed?

Postby worldcitizen » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:18 pm

I've build Smokin Guns for openSUSE on the Build server. Project games.

I know the engine itself is under the GPLv2 license. But I wonder under which license the data code is. The pk3 and the .cfg files.

Am I allowed to redistribute them via the openSUSE infrastructure?

I think it's nice game that should be accessible by many people that is the main reason I packages it.

The licence of game content is a mess... In fact, there isn't a licence at all for content.
Most of original authors cannot be reached, so it's not possible to fix it.
I can only say that you are free to redistribute it as it is, for non-commercial uses.
I hope it meets OpenSuse requirement ;)

The open build service does not allow non-free content. I worked around this for Urban Terror with a place holder urbanterror-data RPM which uses wget to get the Freeware game content afterwards: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... es%3Agames

For smoking guns I already built the engine: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... es%3Agames

This time I will try to use %suse_install_update_script inspired by the fetchmsttfonts package. https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... es%3Agames
