Erroneous info in ServerInfo menu ?

Postby hika » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:46 pm

After connecting to a dedicated server, I tried to see its ServerInfo in the menu opened by ESC key.
However, I just see all the values that come from my local .cfg, not the values from the server cvars.
It happened to me when I wanted to check the Quake3 server engine version.

Anyway, this one is really no big deal. ;)

Try the command "\serverstatus" in the command line. I hope this is what you wanted to know. :wink:

Yeah, it is exactly what I want, thanks ;)
But I guess the GUI Serverinfo menu item displays the wrong values, anyway.
I know for sure that there will be lazy people using the GUI ... like me ;)

I noticed that problem, too, and made a better menu (actually some weeks ago, already ;-) .. ) but wasn't sure, if I liked the result, yet: it skips the server info alltogether ;-) ... @SomkinGuns: I haven't talked about that just yet

Nah ... nothing new ... and just for the record: my solution was indeed buggy beyond repair ... :? (Since my local values were the same as the server values I compared, to I did not notice that the menu item still showed only local values ... d'oh ... )

OK, I have something new about it 8)
I just put a patch in our private repository.

About the implementation, there is simply a call to trap_GetConfigString( CS_SERVERINFO, serverinfo, sizeof( serverinfo ) );
Then, some custom UI cvars are filled with the string values, and then used in the ServerInfo interface.

I tested on single player, on a localhost multi player and on a dedicated server. It works fine.

I've been frustrated by this bug for years. If I ever visit France, I'm going to kiss you. 8O
