Mapping under Linux.

Postby sdide » Mon Mar 12, 2007 12:34 pm

Hey,

I would like to give mapmaking a go, I'm using Linux, and GTKradiant, it works fine making normal maps, with normal quake 3 entities, but I can't seem to get radiant to see the
entities-WQ3.def

In your toturial, you mention, that you need the original q3map.exe ... is there any equivalent for linux? Or is there a trick?

Regards

It's great to see someone make an effort to learn wq3 mapping. 8)
Our tutorials were written over a year ago & have some mistakes/outdated info. But if you can make a map with q3, you should be able to do so for wq3. I don't know anything about Linux but I'll try to help if I can.

If you haven't already, copy the "entities-WQ3.def" file from your westernq3/dev_tools folder into the baseq3/scripts folder.

The original q3map.exe mentioned in the tutorial is outdated now. Use the q3map2.exe located in the westernq3/dev_tools folder. I was thinking it's supposed to work under Linux now but I'm not 100% sure. You can read this thread for additional info.
