new german server

Postby blash » Wed Aug 09, 2006 8:41 pm

hello,

i'm new to this forum but i am not new to westernquake. i loved this mod from the first days when the quake 3 community was huge and i still love it.

i did set up one (two actually) servers. the one that will stay for at least some months has 8 slots and 6 bots. So there will allways be at least 5 guys to shoot. i know some users dont like bots but i like to play crowded games and as long as there are not enough humans i rather play vs. 5 bots than waiting on an empty server. ;)

ip is 194.187.16.192:27015 and i also installed some stats that can be seen here

greetings from germany..

Glad to meet you & welcome to the forum! :D I guess we have plenty of servers now. We just need to find a way to keep them full.

Welcome to the forum !
Good to see that somebody else is willing to lend his server resources for WQ3's sake :)

I'm just running into the following message : CLIENT_UNKNOWN_TO_AUTH
when trying to connect to one of your servers.
I guess it is related to q3key and/or access to authorize.quake3arena.com
I will not discuss about why I block out any access to authorize.quake3arena.com, from my network ;)
It's just that I don't have this problem when connecting to "RAWHIDE", "Somewhere in the west", "Wasteland", "Kowboj" ...
I personally add the "+set sv_strictAuth 0" parameter in my Wasteland servers, for anyone who could have the same problem as me.

Then, it is up to you ;)

And yes, now I'm wondering how it is with the WQ3 standalone version and the q3key likes ...

server is down and wont come back. its just not worth to put real money into a server for this mod. :( its funny that the server was one of the most actively played on during the last 3 months (and still it was empty 99% of the time) so maybe rise your bot players to 6, seems like players liked it! :)

Oh, did you mean that it is not worth to put money *just* for Western Q3 ? ;)
I can understand you about this. Me too, I rent my server for Western Q3, but it is also used for many things else.
Anyway, it was really kind of you to make us play in your server. Too bad, we could not anymore ...
Hope we see you next time, in the other servers, then.

First of all: Thanks a lot blash!

I played regularly and had several nice games on your server! The last weeks have been particularly lonely, you are right :? Hopefully, a new release will bring some fresh acitivity and all this up and downs in server activity are the usual fluctuations ...

Harmonica: Did you bring a horse?
Gunmen: Looks like we are short on one horse!
Harmonica: No. You brought two too many.

Yep. There actually seems to be more servers than are really needed at this point in time. Hopefully that will change soon. Thanks for your service while it lasted. 8)

A late "Thank you!" from me, too.

Just keep on playing on the existing servers ! :-)
