A very, very small thing: window 1st floor lirbary is a little bit too small to fit in its frame. Maybe its intentional, though :)

Guess I am well trained to see stuff like that ;)

Good news Red! we ran your map at a LAN and highnoon2 passed the test. :D We werent really looking for bugs, but you get 6-8 peple on it and you start to test the gameplay. It was a little small for the 8 but it played comfortably with 4-6. we did regular deathmatch. round teamplay might have helped with the 8 people matches.

oh yeah, they got a big kick out of the horses

I'm glad they enjoyed it! :D It's a small map for sure. We'll have to see what's in store for this when I get back to working on it, which could be soon since I'm getting sick of working on my other map right now. I hope I can make it feel a little bigger by opening the hotel.

Now that my other map is 99.9% done, I was thinking about finishing HighNoon2 in time for the 2.2 release next month. My personal opinion is that the gameplay isn't as good as it could be & the frame rates aren't great either. The only way to fix that would be to copy/paste the buildings into a brand new layout. If I leave it the way it is now & open the hotel, the fps will likely drop even more.

I'm thinking a new layout would be best, but maybe everyone is used to the way it is now & wouldn't want that. So, what would you like to see me do? Opinions please!

Highnoon2 is Highnoon2. Its just that Highnoon2 has been around for a while. I like the layout and the gameplay. The gameplay is very tight and the shotgun is king. Im sure you could get the same gameplay with a new layout, but it depends on the new layout. I think if you change it too much, it should be called Highnoon3.

As long as the FPS will be improved, I'm in.
About gameplay, in my case, I don't really worry.
But like Pardner said, if there is too much changes, I think I will keep the current one, just in case, and renamed the new one as highnoon3 ;)

Hi Red,

I never noted severe FPS issues in the current version. And we might have some magic left to tackle that. Additionally, I like the gameplay the way it is! its a nice and sneaky map!

No need to change that!

However, feel free to go for Highnoon3 as long as we keep highnoon2 :D

Seems we don't want to lose HN2 then. I'm not going to proceed with a new layout. I'll just make some changes to the current map and try to finish it up. Thanks for the responses.

Sorry for me being lat with tthe response...i just played one round sp with 4 bots : Fps was worst about 30fps and average was about 50 or 60 i think.

And i only got a pIII 800!!!

So i think this is enough to play!

Just make your changes and let test it together so we can see how high or low the fps will become :D

Well, I'm certain that opening the hotel & adding decorations to it will hurt the fps in this map quite a bit. But I hope I have a solution. I have taken the hotel & another building across the street all the way up to the skybox. This should give me some more hintbrush options to help with optimization. And now that you can't get on those two rooftops anymore, gameplay should be improved without altering it too much.

A lot of work to do yet. Not sure when I'll have a new version ready.

Even though I am not a film guru, at least this reminds me of this movie with Clint ;)
