The "can't find ui/hud2.txt" -problem

Postby Spoon » Sat Mar 08, 2003 1:54 pm

Some of you might get the message that your ui/hud2.txt can't be found. That is a problem caused by your q3config.cfg. WQ3 doesn't have a second hud file. So either set "cg_hudFiles" to "ui/hud.txt" (in the console) or try deleting your q3config.cfg file in the westernq3 folder.

"So either set "cg_hudFiles" to "ui/hud.txt" (in the console)"

How do you do that? I deleted the q3config.cfg file and that didn't work...

just open the console with ~ and type
Code: Select all
/set cg_hudfiles ui/hud.txt

that should do the trick

Probelm is, I cannot get past the menus to get to the console. The game will not launch.

Is there an alternate way of getting the console to pop up that's not in game?

OOPS, never mind, I will try your fix

:D

If the q3config.cfg in your wq3 folder keeps coming back after you delete it, you could try opening the cfg with notepad and searching for "cg_hudFiles". Try manually renaming that line to "ui/hud.txt" without the quotes. (This is just guesswork....but it might help.)
