About the "Hunk_mem" errors...

Postby Divisjon Marduk » Sun Mar 09, 2003 7:59 pm

hello.

First my compliments on a great mod. I like it's quality. :)

My Question is this whole thing concerning the Hunk_mem errors I'm getting. First of all let me state that I did use the shortcut as it was explained in the FAQ. But it didn't really help in most cases - Sometimes it would work, but in more startups I would get the Hunk_mem error again.

At this moment I've changed the Hunk_mem in the Quake3 cfg to 256, and that makes most map loads work, abeit a few failed attempts. (with many bots in them) The only thing is WesternQuake3 forces only one model (clint) because of memory shortage. I have 512 internal RAM on WinXP Home and the GForce3 ti200 (latest drivers)

Maybe 256 Hunk_mem is a bit too much, but I'm new at this Hunk_mem issue. The 96 Hunk_mem is clearly too little for some reason, don't ask me why.

Can this be resolved by a certain number of Hunk_mem, or do I need to change some of the Graphics quality settings in the menu?

I'm a bit in the dark here.... :?:

Well, try to set the hunkmegs in the autoexec.cfg in your westernq3-dir higher. By default 96 megs should be ok, but let's see... I hope that helps.

Great, it working now. Thanks.

I oversaw that little file 8O

One more question, in Online servers I notice the walking speed has been toned down, which I like Realism wise. How can I enable that in the singleplayer part? (own server) It's probably in q3config.cfg, But I wouldn't know which parameter it is.

I changed the Hunkmem to 180 in the Autoexec.cfg in the Westernquake3 directory, which did the job for me.

The cvar for the movment-speed is "g_speed", the default value of it is 180.
