You have to move the file pak0.pk3 into baseq3 to get the console font and many of the textures working.

Cool that it works for the first non-Smoking guns members :-) !

@torhu, I have included the replacement pak0.pk3 already. It should be a all-in-one zip ... well except for extra maps.

Since I'm on the road again, I didn't post a changelog which I will, when I'm back home.

Yes, but you put it in "Westernquake3" instead of "baseq3". :P

d'oh .... it'll be fixed ... somehow

rev_blueduck wrote::could not find sound :movers : doors: dr1_strt.wav - using default

It's a missing sound file, it will be included in the next version.

Sig11 fixed these issues. :D Updated version at the same link in the first post. I know it's a big file....sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks Red !

Well, those you have downloaded already only need to move Westernquake3/pak0.pk3 to Westernquake3/baseq3/pak0.pk3 as torhu already said. No need to download again.

But from now on downloads should be all as they are supposed to be.

Furthermore, updates will be in form of patches - similar to the mod testpatches or ID's patches.

The unlagged code is the most important thing, I guess. What's your ping to the test server?

And another thing that comes to mind is the escape key bug. People are complaining that sometimes, particularly after loading a new map, their esc key doesn't work anymore. I haven't seen this myself, but I've fixed a similar problem with the escape key, described here.

But yes, it's mostly about playing and letting the bugs come to you. It's also important to look for performance degradations, both on the client and on the server. But I don't expect any serious problems.

There is a lagometer available in the options menu. However, you can only see it by holding the "Tab" key while in game or while waiting to respawn. Perhaps this could be permanently displayed on the HUD instead?

You can have the scoreboard permanently displayed by typing +scores in the console. Press TAB to turn it off again. That way you'll have the lagometer at all times. Might be annoying to play with the scoreboard on, though.

Here's what I've found so far:

1. I went into the Rawhide server (I'm in Texas, ping was consistantly 72, and pretty consistantly 125 fps). Then tried to change my screen to 1280X1024, and the game went nuts, just spinning pictures and no mouse control. I quit out of the game and went back in, all was well.

2. If I had like $30 and bought a colt peacemaker, it gave it to me, but also said I didn't have enough money to buy it at the same time. If I got above some threshold, like more than $50, and bought a colt peacemaker, I didn't get the "not enough money" message.

3. Like already reported here, bunch of sound files missing in directory /movers/doors and I think others too.

4. Oh yeah, the servers came up in my game browser, no problem. I couldn't join any but Rawhide, cause I didn't know the passwords.

That's all for now. Overall, lookin plenty good! :D
