No, I get the same message (because it still refers to smokin-guns.net instead of org).

I'll probably have to write a small script, testing UDP communications. Biondo, may I assume you have python installed? Which version?

Biondo, does xqf show the players of the servers you cannot connect to?

We started having the same problem recently as well. In our case, I believe it's because authorize.smokin-guns.net no longer exists. (Notice the .net instead of the .org.)

See my other post viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3287 (which I may have put in the wrong section) for details.

TheDoctor, looking at recent logs are you able to confirm that you've seen a decrease in Baller Bude connections (though, I have to repeat that is not a problem limited to Baller Bude)? Paladin is experiencing a new life :)

you could try to edit your hosts file (make a backup before!) and add those two lines:
Code: Select all
127.0.0.1       authorize.quake3arena.com
127.0.0.1       update.quake3arena.com

http://vogonhq.com/viewtopic.php?t=1313&f=23
But i must warn you, i don't know what this code exactly does.
You have to try it on your own risk.
Maybe you need other adresses, but i think it's worth a try.
I can't reconstruct the problem, so i have no idea if it works.
If it doesn't work , could you (biondo and mope) please make a list of all servers, where you can't connect (try lan too).
Apparently there are the same problems, which confuses me even more.

I don't feel comfortable editing my hosts file, ATM. It can't be a solution for all, anyway.

This is the (supposedly partial) list of servers I can see in XQF at the moment.
Baller Bude NO
Circus Novus NO
altFIRE YES
JueuxLinux YES
Paladin YES
smokin-guns.org YES

Mope said he couldn't connect to ANY server.

I have to inform you that more players are banned as time is going on. They are to shy to post here, and I don't want to reveal their names, but they are all well known players. Recently the message changed from "No or bad challenge ..." to " You are banned ...".

We'll meet all in Paladin.

Do you remember Master-server crisis? We needed months to get players back in SG.

I just want to stress that the majority of player will never write here. But I meet them in chats and sites.

I've changed both game and server on BB to get rid of the authorize code. Does it work now?

@Biondo:
I don't think that condump is related to the issue you have. I have really now clue apart a bug in the code or some ISP changes.

@TheDoctor:
I have talked few minutes with Biondo and he told me to try to connect on your server (212.65.13.87:27960) and I was surprised - not because I got a challenge error - but a "You are banned from this server" message. Biondo added that Jesse James is also banned and - well - since I think I have your banlist, I am pretty sure my IP is not into it (81.62.213.136 for the curious). I start to worry about who could connect on your server, since Biondo, Jesse James, Mope, me and probably many other players couldn't. One more reason to worry is that your server is the reference in DM or simply server administration. I totally understand how much Biondo is worried and I start to worry myself too since a community couldn't grow with such issue for the 1st day head-hunter.
