Banning players is currently only the last option. The rationale behind this is, banning people quickly get's very ugly

How many words must collected to mute player?
And when will a player banned?

A different idea would be a command to personally ignore other players, such as !ignore Stranger.

This is a solution, but did other players see the insulting?

You said about certain phrases which cannot always be considered insults:

while I claimed:

I don't see that you meant what I said, but if you say so ...

On BB, automatic muting is triggered after two subsequent insults, I think. The duration depends on the rules which are triggered, but typically do not exceed more than a few hours. For manual mute penalties, which in turn could last weeks or months, I would expect a last warning. The point here is not to simply penalize somebody, but also let them know why they're penalized. Otherwise there cannot be a learning effect.

In the past, the BB staff did ban people for racism and hate speech (I'll still do!). A small number (~5) of players were banned, after they were warned by BB staff several times to cut down on insults. Most of these incidents happened before we had a mute penalty.

Yes, they would see them, unless they !ignore Stranger too.

Hi, I've been playing again after some time and the filter is working! Saw few abusers getting muted for abusing czech expressins. Thank you very much, cowboy.

And I've got few more abusing words for Baller Bude's filter :)

hovne, jebaku = fucker
poser, naser, neser = fuck you
