Thanx Tequila for DNS entry !

BB server is realy running smoothy, and the datacenter connection in frankfurt is perfect and fast.

The last years BB travels over 3 physical systems, but now i think we have found the final home, in a virtual enviroment :D

btw. dont forgett BBs offical birthday ! Our baby was born 9 November 2009 ;)

That's what happens. Even if "libcurl.so.4" is symlinked into the current directory.

You could try to install a 64bit version of libcurl, see this post. Alternatively, you can download everything manually from download.smokin-guns.org into ~/.smokinguns/smokinguns/

I have reactivated Robbery Bude (bb.smokin-guns.org:27962), an experimental server from 2012. It currently features an auto-balance mode, where up to n bots are granted to the team that has the lower score. In case you dislike this feature, I can easily reconfigure the server to the standard behaviour of bots filling the ranks up to n players. If you want the server to be reconfigured, let me know by posting in this thread. Any feedback is appreciated.


Also, this server is able to play DM maps in BR mode. If you ever wondered, what br_dry would look like, wonder no more. If you want to try out more DM maps, we can work together towards that goal:

Usually in a DM map, safes are missing as well as team spawn points for defenders and attackers. Therefore one has to find
  1. one spawn area for defenders
  2. one spawn area for attackers, with no direct line of sight to the defenders
  3. points for two safes, reasonably apart, and
  4. one exit area (this where the stolen gold is carried to)
such that the following conditions are met:
  • the defenders should reach the safes earlier than the attackers
  • a single person shouldn't be able to view both safes
  • the distance between safes and exit area should allow a reasonably chase, even if defenders were at the wrong safe
  • the exit area should be close to attackers spawn area or at least closer to the attackers spawn area than the defenders spawn area

In the same way, it is also possible to fix (to a certain degree) BR maps with design flaws, by changing some of the spawn points.

If you figured out the places of all aforementioned points for a given map, write in this post. We then could meet on the server on an agreed date, where you show me the points and I do the necessary configurations.

The Robbery Bude server crashes, if humans rob the gold and bots are present in the enemy team. In 2012, I reprogrammed the bots to move towards the gold robber as a top priority. The crash is the likelier, the more bots are alive and playing. Eliminating all bots before robbing prevents the error.

The error message is
recursive error after: VM_Free(qagame) on running vm

The problem could be in BotAttackMove in game/ai_dmq3.c (which I altered) or a problem of the IOQuake3 engine.

Until I can fix this, we have the choice between an unstable server (which restarts itself) and no bots.

Thanks to LowPrio and Jippi who helped me to reproduce the bug.
