With cordite in the air, splintered steel, shell casings and powder burns, there’s only one explanation...
If you have any trouble with SG, this is the place to ask.

Custom sounds/music don't work

Postby Brainslime » Sat Mar 23, 2013 5:25 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm kinda new around here, first post and topic even though I've been playing for ages
under different names.
As now I've been playing for a while, I had the idea many times to change the music for myself.

So I've grabbed Audacity, converted some .mp3 songs into .wav and tried to change the files in "sg_pak0.pk3" with the ones I converted. (menu, track(0), so on..)

Now, my problem is that, the game still uses the default ones.
For example I load the menu and not my edited menu.wav file starts to play.

You get the idea.
Any thoughts? What did I do wrong?

You may modify the music/the sg_pak0.pk3 for your single player games, but as soon as you go online, your client is to requested to have the original SG1.1 sg_pak0.pk3. If this file isn't available anymore, you either get disconnected or you are asked to re-download the whole file again. If you wonder, where the game might download copies of the pk3, read this post.

My advice: if you want to play custom music, just start a media player before you go into the game. If you want to contribute music to the game, submit them to this community and ask for inclusion.

Thanks for the quicky reply.
When I changed the files it didn't even work for single player games, but that's not important anyway, I guess I'll just use Winamp in the background.

The music I wanted to use are under copyright law, so I doubt it would be used.
(Themes from movies like "A fistful of Dollars")

Thank you again, Doctor.
