Maybe (Maybe!) i could help, but im wondering what is needed, The sound of one footstep, two footsteps or a walk, what file format is favorable to use and stuff like that. And what kind of mic is needed, dose a digital Dictaphone get the job done, maybe even one of those that are built in your mp3 ore cellphone?

Black Jack Ketchum, what you should do is go through the sg_pak0.pk3 and look for the snow footsteps sounds and make new one with better quality. Thie files you are looking for are named:
/smokinguns/sound/footsteps/snow1.wav
/smokinguns/sound/footsteps/snow2.wav
/smokinguns/sound/footsteps/snow3.wav
/smokinguns/sound/footsteps/snow4.wav

Yup, the ones in sg_sounds are quite heavy and gritty. You could close your eyes and shoot the guy! Cold dry powder snow has a more subtle, soft low squeek. We're wearing smooth leather bottomed, skinny Tony Lama boots, or hand sewn buckskins, right? It's almost 40F here now, so our dry snow is gone at the moment. (I see it's almost the same in Gothenburg!) I did get a good lake ice wav file, though! Where do I post it?

Yah! The bay was frozen about 3/4 of a mile out, but the waves in the rest of the lake were playing a tune with the ice. I didn't walk on it!
It was amazing.

Yea sure but why are there 4 different sounds, they all sounds pretty much alike to me?

Should there be a difference among them?

I think they are slightly different & played in a random order. This makes the footsteps sound more natural.

I have made 3 more sounds now, but when tested them in SG (I renamed them from snow1,2,3,4 to step1,2,3,4 and replaced the original step sounds in "Smokin' Guns\smokinguns\sg_sounds.pk3") it didn't sound properly the volume was really low and it sounded nothing like when i played it in win mediapl, but i don't now if that was a correct way to test or add the files

Anyways her are the files, all 4.

Maybe the problem is that you saved the files in stereo at 44100Hz. The original files are mono at 22050Hz. Save again in mono & see if that works better. If the volume is still not what it should be, you should be able to tweak that with your audio editor. If not, try audacity.
