Long time

Postby elpresidente » Thu Jan 19, 2006 8:42 pm

Been a while since I've been around these here parts.

I just stopped in to check things out. I was on a server about a week ago (with my son). I've decided to let him start playing more FPS games (he's only 10). We've played some other Q3 mods (Bid for Power, Padman) and also played Nerf Arena (uses UT engine - which is cool cause I love UT). Anyway, He's been bugging me about when I'll let him play Call of Duty. I told him not yet because of the realistic depiction of war and death. But he plays Battlefront II and I figure WQ3 is not quite realistic. It's essentially Cowboys and Indians minus the Indians, so I let him play. Anyway, I figure I'll be on a little bit more and maybe have my boy with me - his handle is zer0 (he thinks that's cool as hell). I was surprised to figure out that I had to update to the latest version of WQ3 (and happy to as well!). Way to go Red and the rest. I hope you keep things up (I would love to see a WQ4). I'll help however I can. If you need server space to host those big files and whatnot, I've got plenty of room. Just let me know. Red - I think you should have my email - give me a shout.

The tutorial in the forum is a little more up to date than the one on the main website. Look in the Editor's section and give a shout if you have any trouble.

I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon. See ya 'round.

Sure, that your kid is only 8 years, Dadamungo ;)? I had the pleasure to "meet" him yesterday and got killed by him (even with the bowie knife!) a couple of times ... very nice!

I guess his birthday is on 29th of February and he celebrated it 8 times up to now. It's really hard to believe that he is only 8! I played with Lego back then ;) (what explains why I like mapping ...)

This is so great: A bunch of nostalgic old men like me and their kids ... :D

Yeah, he's pretty good for his age... better reflexes than his old man.
It's very cool to hear from some people outside of the game :)

I'm still puttering around with the map tutorials, hopefully I'll be able to accomplish something with them eventually, I think I'm a better programmer though...

I got a whooping by an 8 year old.

I'll just go and hide in a corner in total shame.

I've played around with mapping a little. Haven't quite got the hang of it - don't quite get the radient editor. I did a couple maps for UT back in the day that were simple. My biggest problem is finding time. I've got a list of cool projects I want to accomplish but not much time to do it.

I let my daughter play too- she likes playing against bots, but will try to get her online some more in the future- we'll have to think of a "handle" for her - She's 13 and does ok on LAN games with me and Red sometimes-
