Questions about the standalone...

Postby dolny » Wed Mar 22, 2006 2:05 pm

I have a few Qs about the standalone version of WQ3:
- will it contain the newest Unlagged code? (as we know, the wq3 netcode isn't the best)
- will it contain the ATI skybox bug fix?
- will it contain the score reset bug fix? (the score still sometimes resets)
- more questions to come...

Suggestions:
- maybe adding advanced message of the day (+ maybe the highscore system) wouldn't be so time consuming: http://www.planetquake.com/loaded/quake ... nshots.asp ?

1. We had someone implementing this but he left the mod. I think there is still hope for it but one of the coders should respond to this.
2. Yes 8)
3. Another question for the coders.

I'm looking into it. I hope to either fix the unlag code already there, or upgrade to Unlagged 2.01. Just need to understand what the difference is first. Unlagged 2.01 includes some code for testing whether the unlagging works properly, so an upgrade migh actually be easier than trying to fix the old system.

That depends, because I haven't been able to reproduce this in testing. You're talking about the team score, not the individual score, right? If you can figure out how to reproduce this, or at least some clues as to under which circumstances it usually happens, please post an explaination in the Bug Report forum. One thing to check when this happens, is the values of g_redteamscore and g_blueteamscore. Do they reset too, or do they contain the correct score?

Sorry, but fixing bugs is the first priority. I'm afraid you'll have to resort to the 'sets' command in you server.cfg if you want to add extra info. At least for now.

I mean the individual score (well, I play mainly BR so I saw this problem during team games) - sometimes the score of one of the players comes down to 0. Old bug I think.

Small, but useful thing:
- Will you add the .jpg screenshots possibility? tga's are too big... and if I remember correctly the code for .jpg screenshots is available (on Quake3 forums)

That is already built in.. Just bind a key like this

Code: Select all
/bind f11 screenshotjpeg

That will give you a jpg

There might be a bug with the screenshotjpg command, because it doesn't work most of the time when I try it. At least it won't stick when I try to bind it in autoexec.cfg.

If we knew, we would tell you. We are confident it will be done this year but we aren't sure exactly when. We have quite a bit of graphical work to do. There are also many textures and a few sounds that must be replaced. My custom map is nearing completion so I hope I can help the rest of the team with the remaining problems soon. Personally, I hope the standalone will be done by the end of the summer. Too early to say right now though. Welcome to the forum. 8)

I just wanted to say: DON?T STOP!

I?m REALLY looking foreward to this release, just because I love WQ? and there is just no other game out there that delivers such a great feeling.
There aren?t so many people playing this wonderful mod, but I think this could may change, when there is a stand-alone.

Just keep on working on it, it?s worth the effort.
