Postby Xrima » Tue Jul 25, 2006 5:36 am

Hello there everyone, Xrima here. I believe this is my first post here on the Western Quake III forums, so I went ahead and posted an introduction. I am new when it comes to online Western Quake III, but I have been at Quake III sense it came out. Actually started my gaming with Wolfenstein 3D, so I have some good experience in gaming. (If any of you know what Woflenstein 3D is, I would hope you older gamers would.)

Well I also have Western experience, sense I was born in Texas and all. I do hope these forums are a bit nicer than those over in the old Quake3World, people over there tend to be ash holes. (Not sure the rules on the forums yet, so I will keep it clean.)

I was playing on your server earlier, damn fine server you have out there. Well I have to finish up some stuff right quick, so I will be on back here to check the forums later. C?ya round.

Howdy! I think you'll find a few gamers here that remember Wolfenstein 3D. You'll find there are very few ash holes here.
How come HTML and BBCode do not work?

Have you checked the options in yer profile? Welcome to the forum & looking forward to swapping lead with ya again soon. :D

Thank you friend, for the welcome and all, hope to get back on the server soon. About the quote, I have everything in my profile set to allow HTML and BBCode, but when I place it in my signature, EXAMPLE:

Code: Select all
[img]...[/img] or <img src=...>

It does not work.[/code]

Not sure then. :? Maybe our webmaster can post here when he sees this & gather some info to help you resolve this.

I hope so, that would be helpful. I have built many websites, forums, and servers in my time, but the only thing I can think of is that I am not allowed, or do not have permission to, have a signature.

HTML is enabled but limited to "b,i,u,pre and a" tags "for security reasons". BBCode is fully functional, as you can see in your sig, it works fine.

Make sure you have "Always attach my signature, Always allow BBCode and Always allow HTML" set to yes under Preferences in your profile..

I guess BBCode is working since you have use the BBCode "code" tag.
Unfortunately, I see that a [/code] has been added, at the end, automatically, since you have used the "Code" button (I guess), and that you have manually type the [/code] by yourself ;)

Anyway, Welcome to the Western Quake 3 community !

[align=center] is not a valid BBCode, you can see all the valid BBcodes for this forum when you post a message. They are "B, I, U, Quote, Code, List, List=, img, and URL. As I said above, the only html allowed is:

Code: Select all
<b> <i> <u> <pre> and <a>

It is not my intention, in any way, to make you sound as if you do not know what you are saying. Nor is it my intention to make myself sound as if I know everything, because I can assure you I do not. But I would like to say, I know quite a bet about BBCode, as well as HTML, and [align=center] is a BBCode. In fact, there are plenty of BBCodes that I am sure your forum does not list, mainly because they have nothing to do with what people would usually want to use in a forum. But I can tell you from my experience, I know [align=center] is a BBCode, I do not need a help box to tell me what is what, because I know. Sorry if I sound rude, I promise I am not trying to sound that way, but I know what I am talking about when it comes to stuff such as the BBCode, or the HTML, and many other useful website creation/forum recreation coding on a computer.

Just to clear this up, seeing as this is direction this has gone. I have been doing webdesign for 10 years, I major in php, java/script, c++ and python, have my MCSE and have owned my own computer buisness for 9 years.

Now that is out of the way. What was meant by "Not valid" is, not for this forum, not installed on this forum, not functioning on this forum. There is a plugin/mod for extra BBCodes for this forum but there was/is no need for them here, hence they are not installed.

Uh huh, that sounds better than the way you said it earlier. Wish you would have said it like that before, now you got me all confused and such. Well I am glad you cleared that up partner, now maybe we can talk about something else? How come there has been no one on the server today? How can I get good training in WQ3 if there ain?t no one to train against? I wana get good at this game, kind of like Quake III and such. So anyone up for a game of WQ3?

Welcome from me, too !

And you even noticed the WQ3 situation already ;-) ... i.e. not that many players. Keep an eye on your favourite browser tool or on http://bootblock.de/wq3/ (shameless plug ... ;-) ...) to see when somebody else is on.

Another possibility would be to use the calendar in this forum. It isn't uesd that much, but I think it hasn't been tried that much either :-) ... so, e.g. if you know you will play tonight, you can post a date already in the afternoon or even morning. A similar recent thread is e.g. there: http://www.westernquake3.net/viewtopic.php?t=800

Oh, and to not make this sound too bleak, although rather small, the online community has been steady for some years now. And as you probably noticed in the news section, we are working on a new release. Oh, and according to the download stats from the last release, the offline community must be much larger.

Anyways, have fun with WQ3 !

Well I appreciate the welcome, and I will be using my Xfire to see if anyone is on. Usually I do not use Xfire at all, which is why it says I have played barley any games at all, but I will try to use it more often.

So you are the guys who make all the Western Quake III patches and such huh?

We are now. The original creators of the mod, Iron Claw Interactive, stopped working on it a long time ago. I and a few volunteers came together to form the new team, Smokin' Guns, and continue working on it with permission from ICI. Our goal is to release a stand-alone version of the game in the not too distant future. The source for WQ3 will be released at this time as well. We hope this will expand the number of fans/players tremendously & hopefully ensure future development. 8)
