Not many people play this mod anymore. :(
I doubt you will find much help for this project. However, the SOURCE CODE for beta 2.0 is available to anyone who wants to continue work on the mod. I know that those of us who still play would like to see some new maps.

Try posting your problem at the Planet Quake forums. The Quake 3 Mod Making section is where you should go: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetquake/forum.asp?fid=2259
If you find no help there, try searching http://www.google.com for 3dsmax forums.

It'd be interesting, but Q3 is kind of like, dead, dude. :P

The main thing is you'd need not only a group of talented artists to revive it, but people who're interested in actually taking their time to work on something without any payoff. (say there would be one all you want, but c'mon, honestly - the mod scene for this game in general is gone) And those're hard to come by.

I personally say at this point coding is not the issue, but animations, models, and maps. The skinning of the current models has made everyone I've shown it to gag (my entire crew could not stand filming in this mod at one point and seemed to stay away from it) and the animations, while good, are nothing spectacular and require a great deal of work and reworking. (particularly since to make things work proper, you're gonna need the ponchos to flow realistically - that's a pain in the ass to animate)

As well, the sound work. C'mon, I know it's going for authentic spaghetti western feel, but you don't have to keep it that friggin' low-quality.

Would this be worth it?
Perhaps.

But to be honest, I'd prefer to see a team pool their resources into doing something for the new generation like Doom 3 and HL2 that has the Western feel. Not that I feel it'll be done well. :P

So, there, another opinion for ya.

So what you're saying is that you want top-notch professional results from people who work for free on their own time. Too many people are hung up on how a mod "looks" without taking the time to see if it's fun to play. (Like your friends.) Personally, I don't have a problem with this mods "looks" but if I did, the "fun-factor" for me makes it a non-issue.

I agree- I am still very appreciative to the Iron Claw team that made this Mod- Me and RedNeckerson and friends have had more hours of fun playing this Mod than probably any other game out there, even though new games with spectacular graphics are coming out. We still find something special in this Mod. I think the answer to revitalization is word of mouth and new maps which are indeed surfacing ie...(WQ_Town Conversion and WQ_train conversion =coming soon courtesy of Red Neckerson)

Western Quake 3 will always be my favourite game, i don't care about the graphics (which by the way aren't this awful, after all)
