More questions concerning map creation

Postby dolny » Mon Jul 04, 2005 6:31 pm

I have two questions:

1. I want to cut that picture on the wall, like the other picture that is already in 3 parts because I want to make the picture on the wall breakable (and break into 3 pieces). I don't know how to do it, I haven't found any tutorial part on this matter. How do I do that?

2. Resizing textures. I would like the smaller brush filled with the whole texture, not just part of it. I would like to resize the picture to be smaller, and thanks to that the brush would contain the whole texture, not just a part of it. How do I do this ? Can I move the texture on the brush? Right now I move the brush when I want a particular area of the texture to be visible on the brush. Can I move the texture on the brush?

1. Enable the "clip" tool by pressing the "x" key on your keyboard. Here's a tutorial : http://fps.brainerd.net/clipping.htm
2. With the brush selected, hit the "s" key to bring up the surface inspector. You can move, flip, and resize textures with it. Another tutorial: http://fps.brainerd.net/texturealign.htm

You can find tutorials and much, much more at the website I pimped in the wq3 mapping tutorial. Here's the link again: http://www.map-center.com/index.php

Thanks. Eh... I knew both tutorials but it's still too hard for me at this moment:(

Edit: Ok, as far as resizing textures - I got it - yeah! :) Just had to restart Radiant, the changes weren't applying before, heh.
I'm going to fight with clipping tool later on.

Well, you'll have to learn the clip tool on your own or from tutorials...it's too much for me to explain. Just make a brush that you don't intend to keep and experiment on it. That should help you get a feel for it.

For the texture fit, select the brush face you want to align the texture on and hit the "s" key to bring up the surface inspector. Then click the button that says "FIT". That will fit the texture the way you are asking about.
