Some bugs I found...

Postby sporting19992000 » Tue Mar 11, 2003 6:42 am

Hi!
Since this is the bug report section and, although I saw a lot of people on the servers speaking about some bugs in this beta 2.0 version, it's still empty and therefore I'll start a thread. I hope that everyone that really enjoys this mod completes this thread to help to correct the bugs found.

- Sometimes bodies of the enemys killed (or sometimes lagged) just float in the air.

- There's a bug in joining teams (at least in the robbery bank mode). When we die, if we change team we start playing again and even if we write team 1 (when we're in the team 1) we also start playing again in the round.

- Sometimes in duels, when I'm given the possibility to buy weapons, there are some display errors. I buy the weapon and the press ESC to finish the buy mode and the screen gets all messed up until the duel starts.

- When we're in the middle of the process of buy mode and timelimit hits, the players that are buying something say "cg_buy <something>" where <something> depends on what the player is buying.

Damn! I know some more bugs but I can't remember now. I'm sure that I'll see bugs being posted here that I noticed before, but it's a start. I'll edit this post later as I'll be remembering some more.

Cheers,

I found a bug or two...if you can call them that.

Postby BrianTW » Tue Mar 11, 2003 5:36 pm

Well, some of the weapons do stay in the air and spin after a player is killed.

Also, I noticed in many of the maps...you can see the "box border" outline in the skybox. I can see the seams of where the corners meet and follow them down to the ground. I really think that is a poor mistake! lol Such an easy one to have looked over when your mind is on the game play but soooo disappointing when you find it and it pulls you out of the game and makes you realize the sky is not real...lol

I checked all our skyboxes in all our maps, and they work fine. I can't see where the brushes of the skybox meet. I really don't know why you can see them.

Well skyboxes seem to have problems with some graphic cards. I wouldn't know what to do against that.

Let me guess.....you have an ATI graphics card. I have seen this on 2 different computers, both with Radeons. It's a problem with their drivers.

No it's not a problem with ATI drivers, but the way the game (Q3) was designed.
Briefly: ATI draws the environment specifically, while Nvidia generally estimates or "rounds off" the drawing. Quake 3 was designed mostly with Nvidia in mind, so the ugly sky boxes show up with ATI cards. So no, it's not a bug of this game, but Quake 3 itself, so of course it will show up in any mod. (Urban Terror for example)

Another bug...

Postby sporting19992000 » Thu Mar 13, 2003 7:29 am

Another bug I found is when there's a round being played and sometimes we can read what the people that already died are writing.

Something that I don't know if it's a bug or if it was supposed to be like that is that sometimes I die when I'm shooting someone and my shot doesn't count. As far as I have seen until now, it isn't possible for two guys being killed by each other at the same time. I think that it shuld be made possible...

Cheers

PS - Can someone from the dev team comment on these reported bugs, I mean, did this help?

No it's not a problem with ATI drivers, but the way the game (Q3) was designed.

I have seen ATI cards display Q3 skyboxes correctly with older drivers. I have also seen Nvidia cards display them incorrectly, but easily corrected with a different set of drivers. Now I'm not saying the ATI drivers are the problem for a fact in this case........but experience leads me to believe so.

Yes...the spectator chatting is something set with each server, being that they can set it so dead players can't be seen by living or they can. So most likely it was just the server you were playing at didn't disable the spectators from still talking to live players.

Then again, ATI in the past, was known for shitty drivers, so the older drivers are pretty irrelevant. All the information I stated was posted previously @ http://www.rage3d.com, a pretty good source for ATI knowledge.

Another one...

Postby sporting19992000 » Sat Mar 15, 2003 3:29 am

There are two terrible bugs that I hate.

Sometimes, in bank robbery mode, we can't pick the money bag... It ruins the goal of the game mode.

Another bug is that sometimes I throw dinamite and even behind a wall I get killed by it.

Cheers

I just installed a Radeon 9500PRO and retired my GeForce2 Ultra. I now have the outlines of the skyboxes visible on WQ3 maps! :x

Nvidia cards were the best. For $175 US dollars, Nvidia has nothing to compete with the 9500 for performance in that price range. Up untill now, ATI cards were crap but not anymore. I didn't want to buy Nvidia when VooDoo went out of business (but I'm glad I did) and I didn't want to buy ATI this go round but the reviews are unanimous. Besides, I wanted a card that will run Doom3 with all the bells and whistles when it comes out.

Oh...ok :) I prefer compatibility than speed, I've heard that compatibility isn't the best part of ATI cards...whatever
