I compiled binaries on Debian 6. Another good compile Ubuntu 10.04 (new version >= 11.04 does not compile for some reason, writing an error). I think to blame the updated build-essential.

That is, it looks just smokinguns folder in your home directory, but not where the binary files.

Thanks very much for the repository and .deb file. It worked great on Ubuntu 10.04, both 32 bit and 64 bit. However, I have a Debian 5.0 (Lenny) server that gives

smokinguns: Depends: libc6 (>= 2.11) but 2.7-18lenny7 is to be installed

when trying the package.

I know upgrading to Debian 6.0 is probably ideal, but the server is virtualized and the host is still 5.0, so don't want to try that option just yet.

I'm open to other suggestions please. The server is currently running the previous version of Smokin' Guns, which was manually installed.

...oh, forgot to mention, the server is 64 bit.....

The result from a manual install (os independent zip file) is similar

Recommend you only upgrade your version of debian to stable, because lenny is no longer supported. You can manually update the library (to add to sources.list stable repositories squeeze and update the library), but I would not do it, unless of course you want to have a stable work of your OS.

Thanks for the advice. I have installed Smokin' Guns on one of our Debian Squeeze boxes (6.0) using the repository and scheduled the Lenny box for upgrade (will probably be needed for next Urban Terror release, as have now had to move World of Padman and Smokin' Guns due to previously mentioned error).

The altFIRE server is now on the latest 1.1 release
