My installation is untouched. I copied both the old game files and the old user files to the updated Ubuntu.

Before upgrading my OS 1 was on a 32bit architecture, so I was used to launch smokinguns.i386. Now I can launch smokinguns.x86_64, I can play with it, the only thing that doesn't seem to be working is the in-game server list.

If I try to launch from a terminal the 32bit version (smokinguns.i386) instead, I get the following error:

I have a /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSDL-1.2.so.0, but also making a symbolic link from /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 to /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libSDL-1.2.so.0, doesn't help ("./smokinguns.i386: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64"). I suppose because I'm on a 64bit system.

smokinguns.x86 gives the following error:

Sounds related, doesn't it? I would guess, you use an 64bit 1.0 version of the SG-client together with a 1.1 cgame and ui module. Joe Kari might have added this change to the code for 1.1, so 1.0 and 1.1 may be incompatible with respect to this.

The nex executable you're using is definitely the source of the problem. After all, this is one of the changes you made, since the old 32bit version didn't work any longer.

To solve the problem, I suggest you try out another 64bit 1.1 SG executable. You may extract it by hand out of a package, if necessary. Alternatively, get your dependencies for the 32bit version of SG straight. You should be able to use your old executable then, and everything should work as it has in the past. The 32bit packages you need are listed above in your post.

It's not really a problem for me if I don't have an in-game server list. As long as I can use qstat or directly connect to server where I play 99% of times, I'm OK. My worry is that someone else could experience the same problem.
Anyone else playing with a 64bit executable out there?

About the proposed solutions: I'm not able to find a 64bit executable anywhere. Not in the OS-independent archive, not in the .deb.
Eventually I'll try to get all dependencies solved, though it's only a problem of path IMO, since I already have all required libraries (only probably not where SG expects to find them).

Yes, me, on my archlinux machine. I just compiled the 1.1 for you with gcc 4.8.2. I made a small zip for you at this link.

@Tequila: Are you enough kind to check and tell me if this small zip archive with the i386 and x86_64 binaries for Linux is add-able to the Download section?

I had run the executable directly from the extracted folder, without copying it to the game directory.

But, when I put it in the right folder it exits with a segfault (see below).

You could fire up gdb, point it at the SG executable and load the coredump, but that won't help much without debug symbols.

zvm.pk3 doesn't look like a part of a regular SG installation, can you try again with a clean installation?

Hi,

can we try also to authorize your system to run the x86 binary ? You can read MultiArch Ubuntu help page to understand better the problem.

In fact I guess you need to install the ia32-libs-multiarch package or eventually ia32-libs which may just be a transitional package and no more needed in Ubuntu 13.10.
Then you should be able to install libsdl1.2debian:i386 one. This package will provide the needed SDL. Maybe you'll need other x86 libraries.

It looks like I wasn't able to express myself in a decent English.

Thanks to all who wanted to solve "my issues". But I don't have any issues. The "Please help" subject for this topic is not my responsibility, the topic was created by Marcello in May.

I CAN play in Baller Bude, with my 64bit executable. And that is all I need.

I was just pointing out 2 things:

1- There's no 64bit executable in the official release.
2- The old 64bit executable doesn't show in game server list.

Maybe this lack could affect new players that NEED a 64bit executable.
