Hi there

My name is Ralph and im an old Quake3 player.
For some years i have runned few q3 servers.

I want to let you all know that i run a server for Smokin guns up to 12 people and a website about this game.
Servername is Drunken cowboys and the website is drunkencowboys.tk
Server is located in The netherlands.
(thats Europe)
Take a look and give my server a try,its there for you.

I confirm it is operational. Fraglimit 40 with one bot is hard to reach, so you could either lower the limit of add more bots.

I woke up this morning and saw my server had a crash.
¨recieved signal 0¨ and something about VM ?!?!?

Never seen this one before.

No. SG can run stable for several months, however, there exists bugs and some server admins do not take chances and automatically terminate and restart their SG servers every night. You could use a scheduled task to archive that.

For more info about the error, I would need all kind of information:

• the 20 last game.log entries right before the crash
• the command line output before the crash
• the exact error message

A couple more bots would be nice and maybe increase the timelimit to 20 min? but it's always great to see a new server.

was also an old Q3 player ten years ago (at least... maybe 15 years )... Hope you'll found you're way around there and thank you for your interest in supporting SG with your own dedicated server.

Forget to be sorry with your english... More than 50% of SG community isn't english spoken people. And again we all appreciate good and new blood !

Thx for the kind words.


We only need more players out there!
That is the reason that i have only a few bots on my server.
Bots are there only to get people buzzy until there are enough real people in the game.
Nothing more,nothing less.
It is a server for real people you know..............

Hi Ralph

Yes, I understand what you're saying but nobody wants to hang around an empty server while waiting for other players to show up. (which I have done several times to no avail since your server appeared.) At least with some bots around there would be a greater chance of players hanging around a little longer. And, after all, the bots are kicked as actual players arrive.

Please don't misunderstand; this is not a complaint, It's really great to have more servers to choose from, but speaking as someone who plays a little almost every day, an empty server is really no draw.

Hi,
It looks my server had a problem with a broken videocard.

It crashed a couple of times last days.
There is a new videocart in there and its up & running again.
Also I changed the timelimit to 20 minutes and fraglimit to zero.
Last thing,I added 4 bots to keep u guys buzy until other humans enter the game.

Hi there all you people.

I have a new server machine online !!!


Runs for 16 people now but it can handle double the people,no problem.
Faster machine + more RAM so better performance.
It took a while to get it right again........
But give it a try if you dare!
