The Baller Bude galaxy has been a big part of the Smokin' Guns history. It was the main server doing deathmatch games. Well managed, perfect tooling, always on the bleeding edge, with a nice website to power it all! I can only thank it for all those years of fun it provided.
Other servers, let me name them, were jeuxlinux.fr for bank robbery games (hosted on OVH), Rawhide for our US folks, or High Noon for the lover of weird low gravity games.
I'm not much of a deathmatch person, as I much preferred to rob banks, but this is where I met you Biondo and learned to appreciate you. You were one damn tough guy to beat let me tell you. My wallpaper on that old laptop I'm using right now is still one made by your son, and I hope he's doing great.

Remember when @spi shut off the server a couple of days so that it could sneak past an audit?

I will always have a fond memories on this game. We were very much all working together for a better experience. It's all the friends we made along that are important, and boy we did make some. Some, seriously, I can still thank to this day because it is likely that I would not be the same person today.
Certainly thanks to all who helped power it for that long.
We've never talked much together 'Doc, but boy I am impressed on all the work you've done here. I would have loved to see your code merged and maintained, but the hands for it were scarce, and nobody are paid for this.

I would have loved to send you some chocolate for the occasion, but it seems last time the two people I sent to you couldn't convince the person at your gate about my plan

We've got 15 days to backup things in here for archival.
So far I see that you're pulling maps from download.smokin-guns.org (mirror.9k.lv previously) and I trust Téquila to keep it safe. I've thrown a friendly little crawler named ArchiveBot on bb.smokin-guns.org to save it all on Internet Archive's wayback machine

It's saving a lot of demos right now. Let me know if I'm too heavy on the bandwidth. (Edit:
Saved!)
Maybe it's time for me to show up one last time on the server before it shuts down...
