High pings (70+ for me at least) & downtime prompted me to get a new server host for RAWHIDE. Not to mention the last time I connected to their ftp our sever.cfg had been replaced with one for the Excessive mod!?!? (I don't even have that mod installed!)

Anyhow, I'll be relieving Lethal of financial burden & paying for this alone. But I would like to thank Leeth for helping me pay for a game server for so long. That was a super-nice thing of him to do. Thanks dude.

The new IP is 209.160.77.9:27960 but it is only running vanilla q3 at the moment. Should be running WQ3 soon. I ping in the upper 20's to it. How about you?

Wow, that was a quick change

Both in game and with the actual ping tool (for windows, try ping.exe in a command window) I get 160. The IP of the old rawhide is answering with 155 - for me that's the same and then, I'm across the ocean and I don't have a online-gamer tuned ISP connection to begin with

Well, at least my ping is cut in half. (By two thirds really.) Hard to say if Europe will gain anything. Like you guys across the pond need a USA server anyway.

looks pretty much the same as the old rawhide for me (120) ... very good. I can play on Rawhide without spoiling my stats again

It is nearly 122 for me.
About the old RAWHIDE, I don't really remember ... sorry.
Maybe, we have to rent a server in the Atlantic, so most of the player will have a fair ping

Whooops! Seems Lethal paid for another 3 months recently, so the original RAWHIDE is back up now. Now I just have to wait & see whether or not I'll cancel the new one. (Which still isn't running wq3 as of this posting.)

I just ping the original RAWHIDE and I have 114 ms.
Maybe you will have to think about another name, if you are willing to keep the one

I hope it would not be the same problem I had, because of a freezing dedicated server, using 100%CPU

Since I'm terrible at remembering to pay bills, I rented the ALAMO for a whole year. Plus, I got 3 months free for doing it that way. So I'll have that one for at least that long. RAWHIDE expires in 3 months if we don't keep it going. If we let it go, I'll likely rename the new one to RAWHIDE since everyone knows they can find good games with that name. Not sure I want to keep up 2 servers so we'll have to see what happens when the time comes.

The new server seems to ping about 10 ms more for me. No big deal, probably.

My ping's about 110~120ms.

About the same as on the old Rawhide server.

I think it couldn't be much better from my home country to the USA anyway.
So the result is it's not perfect but it's ok. (If my ping would grow up until 200 or higher this could be a problem....)

I don't know if it experiences the same problem I have in my Wasteland DM server.
I guess you probably noticed that it went down many times, a few days before.
If RAWHIDE 1 still wants to live, I hope the problem would not be serious.

The NEW RAWHIDE has been down the last day or so. That's because it's being moved to a more powerful server with more bandwidth. At least, that's what my provider has told me. And at no extra charge to me! Should be back up in another day.

Wooaah ! Previous bad news that brings good news !
I expect better pings from Europe and will report.
